Using his Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/neurologyforvets/) which has over 44k followers, jointly developed with his colleague Laurent Garosi, he is helping vets and owners around the world better understand veterinary neurology, sharing video and imaging based case studies, running live webinars and alerting the community to breaking news knowledge. Currently he co-runs a teleneurology consulting service for veterinarians with neurology patients, while sharing his knowledge with industry partners, veterinarians and students as the current medical director of Hallmarq Advanced Veterinary Imaging. Additionally, as the current Editor-in-Chief of the NAVC’s Today’s Veterinary Practice, he uses his social media sites to distribute the latest open-access continuing education reviews which cover all aspects of canine and feline medicine.

Dr. Katie Cutter

Dr. Katie Cutter is changing the model of veterinary practice. Her BoosterPet practice is lowering barriers to care, elevating the role of the veterinary technician, reducing burnout, and building sustainable long-term careers. The model consists of technician led bricks and mortar wellness clinics. The technician directs the care, manages the appointments, and directs their assistance. Via a telehealth platform the veterinarian appears on the screen in the exam room to complete the appointment. This allows the doctor to support multiple clinics while the technician leads their own team. Barriers to care are lowered, pets receive needed care, sustainable careers are created, doctors are able to help more patients ... it works!

Dr. Roth is a pioneer in our profession in the field of telemedicine and increasing access to care for underserved communities. She is truly a "game changer" is this important and ground-breaking space. She served as the Vice President of Veterinary Operations for Ask.Vet from 2017-2020, overseeing the creation of MyPetDoc, the first veterinary AI triage bot, as well as developing a RACE-approved DVM Academy on Virtual Care to educate her colleagues on the opportunities of telemedicine in veterinary medicine. She holds patents for four different systems to further care for animals virtually: Remote Medical Analysis Systems and Methods, Livestock Management System with Audio Support, Veterinary Professional Animal Tracking and Support System and Veterinary Services Inquiry System. Each invention was created with the goal of making animal care more accessible and efficient to help both animals and veterinarians. She continues this work in her current position as Chief Veterinary Officer of Fuzzy Pet Health, an app-based teletriage and telehealth service, which serves thousands of clients who might not otherwise have access to veterinary care.

Dr. Wininger has truly flipped the way in which we learn neurology. He has educated thousands of colleagues both in person and virtually on the field of neurology and cross collaborations. He believes the power of collaborative and teamwork approach to medicine. This is evident by his cross collaborative talks with a behaviorist, internist, general practitioner, veterinary technician, rehab specialist, ophthalmologist and parasitologist. Yes he has provided education with each of those fields! In addition, he has created 3D printed and invented a safe material for skull reconstructive surgery and spinal surgery that no one else has! He has saved hundreds of dogs through his work and innovation. This man IS the game changer in veterinary medicine.

Absecon Veterinary Hospital

New Jersey

Absecon Veterinary Hospital grew exponentially during COVID-19 from 50 employees to a staff of over 100 employees. Our management team put in great time and effort to add access to mental health support system when putting together this years health care benefits. There are benefits in place for all staff even if they decline to purchase health care through work, making it easier for the staff to get help. The office has hooked up with a local mental health support group and will be providing education on the available resources.

Dr. Ashley Bourgeois

Dr. Bourgeois is a boarded-dermatologist, mother, wife, friend and leader in the veterinary space. Toted as "the derm vet" she has gone above and beyond educating her colleagues and pet parents about dermatology when access to care and spectrum to care are of top consideration to her. Not many have a dermatologist in the area. She has lectured for us here at dvm360 on motherhood and parenting as a veterinarian along with many dermatology lectures. She will be our upcoming keynote speaker in 2023!

But more importantly, she is VERY VERY transparent, vulnerable and authentic on how she feels throughout her life.

North Carolina

Appalachian State University is the first veterinary technology program to hire a full time wellbeing coordinator to instill wellbeing as well as physical and mental health practices and skills into the curriculum. Graduates will be better prepared for the rigors of the profession.
